No preparation is necessary, although if your dog has very long or dirty fur, this would be a great time for a trim and/or a bath. Food is an excellent motivator, so you might want to feed your pet a little less than usual also taking your pet for a little walk before the session will be helping to maintain the attention during the shoot. Bringing along a favorite treat and toy can be helpful. I keep treats on hand, so let me know in advance if your pet has any dietary restrictions.
That’s perfectly ok! While knowing the basic commands, such as sit, come and lay, are a bonus, they aren’t a requirement. I also bring some tasty training treats and many squeaky toys with me, which helps get the dogs interested in me. My goal is to photograph your pet doing what they do best – no one is judging how well they will sit or stay. Before we start, I will spend some time getting to know your pet, and getting them used to me and the camera.
Believe it or not, most of the dogs I photograph outdoors are on-leash! Safety is our first priority. I will not put your pet in any situation that might compromise their safety. So, unless the area is secure, your dog will likely be on-leash for the session. I am able to remove the leash from the images during the post-processing process. I'll do it at no extra cost.
It’s always a good idea to have treats available to hold your animal’s attention. A favourite treat and toys, these always help calm down or comfort animals when in a new environment.
Definitely! (for On-Location session only). You are more than welcome to hop in a few of the photos with your pet. I love to show the special connection between pet and owner (The candid shots that I get of pets with their owners are my most favorite images to show my clients. You will love them!).
I recommend you wear something that complements the color of your dog. It’s best to stick to solid colors (prints don’t cooperate).
Definitely, each session includes Hi res digital files (JPEG) with you have the option to print or share your images on social media as much as you want.
I retain copyright for all the images captured. However, your images are submitted for personal use only. As such you are free to share them on social media as you wish. You cannot sell or license them. For printing purposes, I recommend you get prints from me so I can ensure you get only the highest quality.
You will have access to an online private gallery for review and download your images.
Because I’ll be handing you the highest quality, professionally captured images you could hope for, it will be about two weeks before you see the results.
A model release is a legal release typically signed by the subject of a photograph (in this case the owner of the pet) granting permission to publish and prints the photographs.
Yes, you will receive watermarked files sized for social media. I only request that you do not crop or modify color and watermark when shared online.
